There is nothing my children love more than a chilly day with hot cocoa. Living here in North Carolina, those days are few and far between. We recently had a few chilly days and my son went straight for the hot cocoa , telling me, “I’m cold, time for some hot cocoa.”
Sometimes when I’m working during my busy days, things will hit me. I love how the Lord will use ANYTHING to get my attention. I saw this cute PNG/SVG file, “As for me and my house, we shall serve Hot Cocoa.” I started laughing as soon as I read it. I used it in the picture above. I know that some Christians may get offended, I simply find it funny. It did get me to start thinking, “Who are we serving?”
“And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
When we read that scripture, most of the time, it’s just the end that we see quoted. “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”. Many times we’re not really thinking about the whole scripture in it’s correct context.
In chapter 24 of Joshua, he is rebuking the Israelites for their infidelity to the Lord. He reminds them of ALL the Lord has done, from the Exodus out of Egypt , to the parting of the Red Sea. Swallowing up all the Egyptians who would pursue them to kill them. Much like the Lord swallows up our daily sins!
As Christians, are we truly serving the Lord?? I know that daily I have to wake up and draw from Him. I am NOT always serving the Lord. Sometimes I’m just running through my day without really serving, or thinking of Him. (I’m being very real here.) For women, especially those in the church for many years, like myself, our walk can get stale. I do things automatically with out really thinking about it.
One of the things I see in scripture is that the Lord makes sure to remind the Israelites of ALL HE has done for them. They’re commanded over and over again to “Not forget” what the Lord has done. To pass it down to the next generation. I find that When I simply sit down and think about all the Lord has done for me, I am overwhelmed and will actually cry. It’s easy to serve the Lord when you remember all He’s done.
My prayer is that the Lord will daily renew my heart , keep reminding me of what He has done. To help me Serve HIM with ALL my heart! I love how He meets me where I am. If I’m washing dishes, searching for files on the internet or simply doodling on Procreate, He’s there. Many times while I’m drawing, I’m chatting with Him. (In my head, not out loud. People would think I was crazy! 😂 )
The other day, I started doodling and created some cute backgrounds in Procreate. I love using these. I used one in picture above. Here is a quick slide show to see the 5 brushes.
